Rules and Guidelines for Submitting Images
to the Tyler Art Gallery
In order to submit an image for inclusion in the
Tyler
art gallery, you must first read and follow the rules and guidelines
listed below.
-
Acceptance: Submissions may be rejected and may be renamed or otherwise
edited at the discretion of the curator unless you expressly specify otherwise,
though that may affect the acceptance of your submission.
-
Removal: Superliminal Software reserves the right to remove any
previously accepted images at any time at the discretion of the curator
with or without the artist's consent. You may always request removal of
an image of yours that was previously accepted.
-
Authorization: If you are over 18 years old, you must be the creator
of any image you submit. You may also submit on behalf of a child or other
person under 18 if you have their permission. In all cases the artist's
and submittor's names and email addresses must be included.
-
Derivative Works: By submitting an image, you vouch that that image
is not a copy of or a derivative work of another artist unless you have
the express permission of that artist. In those cases, your submission
must include the name of the original artist. You may, however, submit
an image which is based on another image already published in the Tyler
gallery if your image is substantially different. In that case you must
include a description (see below) that includes a citation of that image
including the artist's name and the URL of their image's gallery page.
You may include HTML hyperlink tags in your text if you have permission
to create such links. You may always link to other Tyler gallery pages.
-
Disclaimer: You must agree to the public publication of your art.
Superliminal Software takes no responsibility for the unauthorized use
others may make of your artworks, and takes no responsibility for validating
the right of the submittor to publish such artwork.
-
Size: Images may be of any size, though roughly 500x500 is typically
a good size.
-
Image Format: Images must be in either PNG or GIF format. PNG format
is preferred especially when it is smaller than the equivalent GIF version.
-
Email Format: Do not send email in HTML format. The published web
pages are generated programmatically. Only plain text email with image
attachment(s) should be submitted.
-
Palettes: You should use the smallest practical palette size, preferably
255 or fewer colors.
-
Colors: White backgrounds are preferred but feel free to change
colors using other image processing programs.
-
Post Processing: You may alter your images using other image processing
tools but the submitted image must have been substantially produced with
the Tyler
Applet.
-
Dates: If a copyright date is not specified, the date of the email
message will be used.
-
Categories: Your email should specify the gallery room you feel
is appropriate, especially if the symmetry type is not obvious.
-
Descriptions: You may attach optional descriptive text or caption
to accompany your image.
-
Image File Names: You may name your images however you like though
names should not be excessively long or short. Only letters, numbers, and
dashes should be used. Do not use blanks or periods except for the dot
before the file extension. The file name will be used as the title of its
gallery page.
-
Data Files: Attaching polygon data files are appreciated though
not required. Note that if you use the Tyler applet often, you will probably
prefer downloading the application version which supports additional features
including the ability to save your polygon data for future editing or rendering.
-
Thumbnails: Attaching a 200x200 thumbnail version of your image
is appreciated. This may become a future requirement, so including one
now will increase your chances that your image will remain in the gallery.

image.
Thank you for your submissions.
