Dear Cubists,
I've been in contact with Andrey's family who have recently written an biography of him for the web site. You'll find the English version here
His resourceful family was also able through heroic effort to recover data from his damaged hard drive including what appears to include all of the source code to his incredible creations! For a long time, we assumed this was lost forever, so this is big news. I plan to get most of it uploaded to either his GitHub account or my own (opinions anyone?), but I would first like to see if I can get some clean builds. His source control is a surprisingly similar mess to my own. Would you like to try building it? I've placed a minimal archive of the code for Magic Puzzle Ultimate
January will be the first anniversary of Andrey's death. So much has happened in that short time, and the large hole he left in our community is may remain a permanent feature. We really miss you, Andrey!

Hi all,
I've been working with Melinda in the background and we think we have a
good build of Andrey's *Magic Puzzle Ultimate* on GitHub now. It does
require installing some older DirectX libraries (details are in the
readme). You can clone the repository here:
https://github.com/cutelyaware/MPUlt
Let us know if you have trouble building... or better yet, send pull
requests for any needed fixes :D
Melinda, thank you so much for securing and hosting Andrey's code, web
pages, and biography. I think it's wonderful that you did this, and I'm
sure others feel the same.
Best,
Roice

Thank you so much for testing and contributing, Nan! It's super helpful to have confirmation that the repo is good and that collaboration works.
If you want to try something more, I would most love it if someone would fix Andrey's odd shading. It looks like the polygon normals are reversed or there's some other shading issue.

Hello everyone,
I don't know if this is helpful, but I've attempted the task of modernising
Andrey's DirectX using SharpDX, and my progress so far is here:
https://github.com/Sonicpineapple/MPUlt
Unfortunately, it still isn't in a working state, but I have brought an
initial 90 odd errors down to 5 or so. The reason those are still left is
because I haven't been able to use SharpDX.Toolkit, but apparently that can
be installed on Visual Studio, and maybe someone with more DirectX
experience than me could find a way around it anyway. (I'm stuck on Linux
right now using MonoDevelop, so I can't even run the original program. :( )
This may be useless to you all, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling if
no-one else had started yet.
And as a side note, I'm quite a fan of the quirky shading. It's easy on the
eyes. :D
